Towamencin Township, Montgomery County, a second-class township located at 1090 Troxel Rd Lansdale, PA, with a population of 18,000, is seeking a highly professional, results-oriented individual to serve as the Director of Planning, Zoning and Code Enforcement. The Director should possess strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, and be computer proficient. The Director must also have a comprehensive knowledge of local Pennsylvania planning, development, and land use policies, practices, and regulations.
The Director is responsible for reviewing and processing all Subdivision and Land Development Plans, Conditional Uses, map and text amendments, variance, and special exception applications. The Director is responsible for the enforcement of all pertinent Township Ordinances and state laws including but not limited to, building, zoning, and property maintenance. The Director is a professional supervisory position, who reports to the Township Manager, provides overall direction and supervision over all aspects of the department, and provides support to the Zoning Hearing Board and Planning Commission. The Director will represent the Township at public meetings and will manage a staff of experienced professional inspection, building code, zoning, and construction officials. The Director also serves as the Township Zoning Officer.
Preferred requirements: Five (5) or more years’ experience in land development and planning, including at least three years of supervisory experience; Direct municipal government experience along with a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in planning, public administration, engineering or a closely related field strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience. Required to have a valid Pennsylvania state driver’s license. May be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment.
