Towamencin to Receive $3 Million Funding Award

Christmas came early to Towamencin, as we recently learned the Township was selected for $3 million in funding through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) for the Welsh and Orvilla Roads Intersection Improvements Project. This intersection serves as a border between Towamencin and Hatfield Townships. The project will mitigate ongoing traffic concerns at the intersection, marked by sustained traffic backups and challenges making left hand turns. This project will benefit Township residents and the many commuters, who regularly use this intersection.

The future intersection improvements include: roadway widening to provide new left-turn lanes for each approach to the intersection, ADA curb ramp and traffic signal equipment upgrades, signal timing optimizations, and stormwater management improvements.

The MTF program provides grants to ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of this commonwealth. A special thanks to the Bowman staff (our Traffic Engineering consultant), who worked on the grant submission and our State Representatives, State Rep. Liz Hanbidge and State Senator Pennycuick, who continuously support and advocate for Towamencin projects.
