Director of Planning, Zoning & Code Enforcement - posted January 9, 2026
The Director should possess strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, and be computer proficient. The Director must also have a comprehensive knowledge of local Pennsylvania planning, development, and land use policies, practices, and regulations.
The Director is responsible for reviewing and processing all Subdivision and Land Development Plans, Conditional Uses, map and text amendments, variance, and special exception applications. The Director is responsible for the enforcement of all pertinent Township Ordinances and state laws including but not limited to, building, zoning, and property maintenance. The Director is a professional supervisory position, who reports to the Township Manager, provides overall direction and supervision over all aspects of the department, and provides support to the Zoning Hearing Board and Planning Commission. The Director will represent the Township at public meetings and will manage a staff of experienced professional inspection, building code, zoning, and construction officials. The Director also serves as the Township Zoning Officer.
Preferred requirements: Five (5) or more years’ experience in land development and planning, including at least three years of supervisory experience; Direct municipal government experience along with a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in planning, public administration, engineering or a closely related field strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience. Required to have a valid Pennsylvania state driver’s license. May be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment.

Public Works Laborer/Equipment Operator – posted December 16, 2025
Towamencin Township is seeking applications for a full-time Public Works Laborer/Equipment Operator. This position performs work assigned and supervised by the Public Works Director and Roads Supervisor. The majority of the work consists of the maintenance of Township roads, grounds, stormwater system and facilities. The position drives trucks and operates heavy construction equipment and requires a minimum of a class B PA license, and operates various hand and power tools, including zero-turn mowers, weed whackers, pole saws, chainsaws, brush cutters, tree chippers, and other equipment of similar complexity.
Specific work examples include: loading and unloading of materials and tools from trucks, applying road construction materials, plow snow and spread ice and snow control materials; cutting grass, brush and branches, using hand and powered tools, application of snow and ice control materials and other maintenance chemicals, performing minor maintenance and repair operations on equipment and vehicles and the cleaning and painting Township facilities.
The position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance operations on the vehicles operated and for reporting other needed maintenance. Equipment operation will include: trucks, mowers, rollers, backhoes, material loaders and other vehicles of similar complexity. This position will work as part of a team and is expected to collaborate with various employees and departments. The position will be responsible for performing other related work as may be required or assigned.
Primary Duties/Accountabilities
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to learn and carry out simple mechanical operations.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, including availability for severe weather emergencies and recreational events.
- Knowledge of the proper operating procedures and safety practices associated with trucks, construction and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to recognize defective operation of vehicles and to perform routine maintenance.
- Knowledge of state laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles on highways.
