Sumneytown Pike / 309 Connector Project

Towamencin Township has been informed that the Department of Transportation encountered a tremendous amount of rock that will need to be blasted in order to proceed with the 309 Connector Project.

Blasting is expected to begin after June 28th

Blasting could occur between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Saturday.  Residents may experience some vibration and/or noise associated with the blasting, however, there is a monitoring plan in place.  The plan will record and verify that vibration and noise levels remain within acceptable State and Federal guidelines.

Warning horns will be sounded before each blast which could occur from 1-3 times a day.

    Emergency Planning: Special Needs Registry

Bucks, Chester and Montgomery Counties have jointly developed this registry to allow citizens with special needs and their associates an opportunity to provide information to emergency response agencies, so emergency responders can better plan to serve them in a disaster or other emergencies.

For the purpose of this project, a special needs individual is someone who cannot receive, understand or act upon emergency protective orders.

The information collected here will not be available to the public. The information will be held securely and only accessed for the purpose of emergency response and planning.

Please be as complete as possible in your responses. You will be e-mailed periodically to verify and ensure the information provided is correct and to make any necessary changes. Individual surveys will be archived after one year if not verified and facility surveys will be archived after six months if not verified. Click here for more information.

Mandatory Leaf Recycling Program

Leaf and Yard Waste Collection

Pennsylvania Law prohibits placing leaves in the trash. Leaves must be composted on site or placed out for separate collection.  Your Contracted Waste Hauler is to provide this service to their customers in Towamencin Township.

  • Residents must purchase their own biodegradable leaf and yard waste collection bags that are available at grocery and hardware stores; no plastic bags are permitted.

  • No more than 10 bags per collection.

  • Haulers are to advise customers of specific dates for leaf pick-up:

  • First collection in late October

  • Second collection in November

  • Third collection in May

  • Customers can be billed by their hauler for this DEP mandated collection.

  • Haulers are required to report tonnage collected from each collection to Towamencin so that it can be forwarded to DEP.
