Recognition of Retirement - Township Manager Rob Ford

At its Board of Supervisors Meeting, Wednesday, May 26, the Board recognized the retirement of Robert A. Ford, who officially retired Tuesday, June 1st. The Board of Supervisors presented Rob with a commendation for exemplary service as Township Manager for almost 17 years. State Senator Bob Mensch also presented him with recognition honors from both the State Senate and PA House of Representatives.

During his tenure, Rob oversaw several major projects and initiatives, including the widening of Forty Foot Road, the realignment of the intersection of Troxel/Orvilla and Allentown Roads, several upgrades to Fischer's Park, and repairs and upgrades to the Township’s Municipal Complex, to name a few.

Rob was hired at Towamencin Township in September 2004. Prior to that, he worked at Whitemarsh Township for 12 years, serving as Assistant Township Manager and Director of Community Development. Before his career in local government, Rob was an active-duty officer in the U.S. Navy, from 1979 to 1991, then serving with the Navy Reserve, and ultimately retiring from the Navy as a Captain in January 2010.

The Board offered heartfelt words and well-wishes to Rob. "Professionalism, integrity, honesty, patience, gentleman, and understanding, are all good words to describe him. They've made him a good manager, and a good leader," said Chairman Chuck Wilson. Staff will surely miss his sense of humor and wish him the best as he embarks on this new chapter.

Assistant Township Manager/Finance Director Brooke Neve will serve as interim manager. The Board expressed their comfort knowing the Township is in “good hands” with Brooke at the helm.

Police Community Engagement Events Survey

Now that we're seeing some "easing" of COVID restrictions, Towamencin's Police Chief Tim Troxel is excited to start looking to the future and getting community events back on the schedule!

One of the most important goals for the Chief's community plans is to start a series of community education events. This series will cover a wide range of topics important to our community and will be part presentation and part Q&A.

As we start the planning phase, we would love the feedback from our community on what topics are most important to you. We thank you for taking the time to complete this survey, and encourage any suggestions.
