Towamencin Township Appoints New Township Manager

Last evening, June 23rd, the Towamencin Board of Supervisors ended its search for a new Township Manager with the appointment of Donald D. Delamater as Township Manager. The selection of Mr. Delamater followed an extensive recruitment and interview process that included over 30 applicants.

Mr. Delamater has 25 years of municipal management experience. He currently serves as Township Manager for Lower Providence Township. He previously served as Township Manager for Hilltown Township and at East Norriton Township, where he spent 7 years in the position, after serving 13 years as Assistant Township Manager.

He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Villanova University and completed undergraduate studies in Business Administration at Florida Atlantic University. Don, his wife Holly and three children CJ, Ryan and Dana are residents of Towamencin Township.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Chuck Wilson commented, “not only does Don bring a wealth of experience to the position, but we believe he is a good fit, possessing many of the same traits that made Rob Ford a very successful and well-respected Township Manager here.”

Mr. Ford retired on June 1st, after serving 16 years as Township Manager. Mr. Delamater begins work on August 9th. Assistant Township Manager/Finance Director Brooke Neve is serving as Interim Township Manager.

Lifesaving Award Presented to Sergeant Wainwright

At last night’s Board of Supervisors Meeting, Chief Troxel presented Sergeant Geoffrey Wainwright with the Towamencin Police Department's Lifesaving Award, which read:

“Presented to Sergeant Geoffrey Wainwright in recognition of your actions on Monday, May 24, 2021, when you came upon the scene of a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle while on your way to start your shift. Although not yet on duty, and driving your personal vehicle, you stopped to render aid to the operator of the motorcycle, who had sustained serious injuries. Utilizing your personally-owned trauma first aid kit, you applied a tourniquet to the victim’s left leg, stopping serious bleeding which contributed to not only saving the person’s leg, but also saving his life. For these actions, you are hereby presented with the Towamencin Police Department Lifesaving Award on this 23rd day of June, 2021.”

Towamencin PD officers and staff could not be prouder of Sergeant Wainwright's preparedness and quick action. Sergeant Wainwright is in charge of the police department's training unit, and definitely leads by example!
