New Bookmobile Stop at Fischer's Park, Starting Saturday, May 8th

Montgomery County’s Library System is adding a new bookmobile stop for Towamencin residents. Begining this Saturday morning at 9 am, the bookmobile will be at Fischer's Park every other Saturday morning, through August. The bookmobile will be set-up in the parking lot.

Towamencin Township is one of 33 municipalities served by the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, Branches, and Bookmobiles. Library cards and online accounts are free to residents. The bookmobiles make scheduled stops in municipalities to provide library programming to residents that are not within the service area of “brick and mortar” public libraries. This stop is an addition to existing stops in Towamencin - Calvary Baptist Church and Freddy Hill Farms.

Fischer's Park is located at 2225 Bustard Road, Lansdale, PA

Towamencin Awarded $25,000 Grant for Veterans Park Master Plan

Last month, Township staff was notified that the Township was awarded another $25,000 grant, funded by the PA Commonwealth Financing Agency, for the development of a Master Park Plan for the Township’s Veterans Memorial Park. In November 2019, the Township was awarded a $25,000 grant, by the Pennsylvania Department Conservation and Natural Resources, to develop a Master Park Plan. The Veterans Memorial Park is located off Allentown Road, behind the formed Sears, future Planet Fitness, in the Towamencin Village Shopping Center.

The master plan will be used to develop its open space. The future plan will be multi-dimensional in its objectives:

• Provide local veterans with passive spaces, such as trails and gardens, which could have therapeutic benefits.
• Preserve and enhance the Revolutionary War-era cemetery, while it honors soldiers past and present.
• Highlight and interpret the cemetery and the legacy and sacrifice of these brave, local heroes.
• The use of this park and its passive facilities will promote a healthy lifestyle for area residents.
