Workshops for Kids
In
this workshop you will get to
excavate for valuable gems,
fascinating rocks, and some
ancient fossils. All are
yours to keep. You will
experience the thrill of
discovery, much as prospectors
did. Your specimens are in a
hard clay material the same as
prospectors found. You
will get an excavation tool,
specimen brush, log book,
sorting trays and labels.
As a prospector you will,,
record the color, both wet and
dry texture, and its ability to
float for each of the 10
specimens you dig out.
Make an educated guess with our
help to whether each one is a
rock, gem, or fossil. We
give you hands-on science
(Prospectors style - Fun -
Educational - Exciting).

Many
of us did not grow up with the
concept of extensive P/SAT
preparation. Times, however,
have changed. Students’
getting into their chosen
colleges has never been more
competitive. A major part
of a student’s college
application is the PSAT and SAT.
We will demystify this important
scholarship and entrance
benchmark. Hear the
expectations involved, what
colleges are looking for in SAT
scores, the most effective
approaches to preparation, the
most advantageous times to take
the test, and the resources
available to prepare. You
will leave this seminar aimed
with practical, exact knowledge
of how these tests can be
conquered as painlessly as
possible and how it fits in the
overall application timeline.
Materials and handouts will be
provided. The seminar is
lead by a certified teacher and
experienced SAT instructor.
